Don Bosco Oratory (DBO) Fatorda scored an easy 3-0 win over Betalbatim Sporting Club to move into the quarterfinal of the 15th London Trophy Inter Village Football Tournament at Goa Velha Sports Club ground. Don Bosco Oratory scored the first goal of the match in the 33rd minute of play through Hanslum Furtado whose powerful shot beat the Betalbatim Sporting Club keeper. The score read 1-0 in favour of Don Bosco Oratory at halftime. In the second half, Maxwell Furtado doubled the lead through a header to make it 2-0 for Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda in the 50th minute. Charles Miranda added to Betalbatim Sporting Club's misery to make it 3-0 for Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda with virtually the last kick of the match. Maxwell Furtado was wasteful in front of goal and missed at least three goal-scoring chances. Maxwell of Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda was awarded the Man of the Match by Melroy D'Silva (Goa Velha Sports Club player based in the United Kingdom).
Navelim Sporting Club beat Ambelim Sports Club 1-0
MARGAO: Navelim Sporting Club got the better of Ambelim Sports Club 1-0 and entered the semifinals of the Late Afonso Aguiar Memorial Inter Village Football Tournament at Cuncolim School Playground at Cuncolim on Tuesday. The match started at a brisk pace with both teams playing counter-attacking football. Navelim scored a goal in the 11th minute from a free kick on the edge of the box. Clinton Niasso buried an incredible knuckle-ball shot past the keeper to put Navelim 1-0 ahead. Ambelim tried creating chances but could not find an equaliser. In the second half, Ambelim started with more intent and forced many saves from the Navelim keeper. In the end, the lone goal of Clinton proved to be the difference between both teams. Clinton Niasso was awarded Man Of The Match at the hands of Elvis Gomes, Ex-President of Goa football Association.
