The Curtorim Gymkhana under the aegis of Goa Chess Association (GCA) organised a six days introductory chess coaching camp for local school students. Ethan Vaz's overwhelming recent performances at State, National and International level, has motivated the children and their parents to pursue Chess. Altogether 26 students from local schools participated in the camp. The camp was inaugurated on March 4 at the hands of World silver medalist Ethan Vaz. Amrut Naik, chess coach, trained the players in the basic moves and rules of the game. The camp concluded on March 11. The chief guest for the concluding function was Sharendra Naik, secretary, GCA. Also present were Sameer Naik, Jt Secretary GCA and Rockey Mascarenhas convenor of the camp among others. Sharendra Naik congratulated the club committee for taking the initiative to popularise chess in the village. He also assured all help from GCA and requested the students to continue the coaching on alternate days after the annual exams.
