Dezire 7 defeated Guddi Brothers 2-0 to win the 3rd Petornila D'Cunha Memorial 7-a-side football tournament organised by Friends Circle Curchorem at Figureido ground, Curchorem.
After a goalless first half, Dezire 7 broke the deadlock midway into the second half when Stallon slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot. The goal galvanised the team as they mounted pressure on the rival citadel. Mozan sealed the rivals' fate with a pile-driver to make it 2-0.
Dezire 7 were richer by Rs 70,000 while Guddi Brothers had to settle for a prize of Rs 50,000. Earlier, Friends Circle trounced Tiatrist 4-0. Charlie, Hyson, Jamie and Venzic were the goal-getters for the winners. Chairperson of Curchorem Municipal Council, Jasmine Braganza gave away the prizes in presence of local councillors and Panch members.
