DIYA Organization, a recently established entity dedicated to supporting emerging sports talents and para-athletes, celebrated and honoured 21 accomplished sportspersons from across Goa. Notable honorees include Norberto Gonsalves, a legendary footballer from Verna, and Sakshi Kale, a para-athlete from Usgaon.
The felicitation ceremony took place with distinguished guests, including chief guest Fr Valentine Alvares, Chaplin of Mt. Carmel Chapel, Telaulim, guest of honour Varsha Desai, headmistress of Jyot School for Autism Children, and Norberto Gonsalves, President of DIYA Organization.
The ceremony acknowledged the outstanding achievements of athletes from diverse fields, showcasing the diverse talent pool in the State. Among the felicitated individuals were: Football - Amanda Dias (Navelim), Pearl Fernandes (Arambol), Valaina Fernandes (Davorlim); Gymnastics - Krish Naik (Margao), Veloysha Pereira (Aquem), Rudraj Naik (Margao), Shreeja Naik (Navelim); Marathon - Sania Surlkar (Vasco), Sanika Surlkar (Vasco); Speed Roller Skates - Sia Pereira (Aquem), Samuel Das (Aquem); Yogasana - Ashwini Churi (Sada, Vasco); Chess - Shree Ghonsekar (Vasco); Multi-Talent - Supriyo Mondal (Majorda); Karate - Ved Akarkar (Mardol); Handball - Mamta Raj Kumari (Navelim); National Mallakhamb - Vishal Goankar (Poinguinim); Special Sportspersons - Badminton: Roshni Ben (Gujarat Samaj); Cycling: Vignesh Korkankar (Jyot School).
The felicitation included the presentation of mementoes and certificates to the deserving sportspersons.
