Five first-team players “ Hrithik Tiwari, Lesly Rebello, Lalremruata HP, Phrangki Buam and Muhammed Nemil “ will play a role in FC Goa’s Goa Professional League (GPL) campaign this season as a part of the Gaurs‘ 25-member squad for the league which kick-starts on December 6.FC Goa Dev Team head coach Deggie Cardozo will lead the side. He will be assisted by Sugitesh Mandrekar in the Dev Team.
Speaking to fcgoa.in ahead of their opening match in GPL 2022-23, Cardozo said, “We are ready for the league. The players have been working hard in training both individually and as a team. This season will be a big test for the players, as they are aware of the club’s roadmap in terms of them being promoted to the first team. This also serves as the motivation for them to work hard.”
“I’m thankful to the FC Goa management for sending my Dev team for the Durand Cup, as it boosted our performance and gave us the confidence to play at higher levels. After returning from the Durand Cup, we played friendly matches with several local teams and also our First Team on a few occasions.
“These games helped us identify where we can improve and now I feel we are ready to give our best in the GPL,” he further added.
The Boys in Orange will kickstart their GPL 2022-23 campaign on December 9, when they take on Sporting Clube de Goa at the Duler Stadium. The match is slated for a 3:45 pm kick-off.
