Coach Marquez acknowledged Nemil's quality and assured him that his chance would come with consistency in training. "I think nobody is doubting the quality of Nemil," the coach stated, highlighting the importance of continuous effort and readiness for opportunities.
He also added that “We want to, and we need to win. Imagine that we don’t win tomorrow and Mumbai (City FC) win in Kolkata (against Mohun Bagan Super Giant), then I think we would regret it,” FC Goa head coach Manolo Marquez said at the pre-match press conference, when asked about what he expects from Sunday’s clash.
“For Chennaiyin (FC), the important game is the next one,” he added, implying the playoffs as the Southerners have ensured their sixth place and a berth in the knockouts. “But for us, the important game is this one because we still have a chance to finish second.
“It’s true that we depend on other results as well, but primarily for it to happen, we need to win tomorrow.”
Regarding the upcoming match, Coach Marquez stressed the significance of securing a win to maintain their position in the table. "We need to win tomorrow," he emphasised, recognising the potential consequences of a loss given the tight competition. He also acknowledged the challenge posed by Chennaiyin FC, emphasising the need for focus and determination.
When asked about the advantage of playing at home, Coach Marquez acknowledged the preference but remained focused on the task at hand. "It's better to play at home because we like to play," he admitted, indicating a slight advantage but emphasising the importance of performance regardless of the venue.
