FC Goa produced a ruthless display to overpower Guardian Angel SC 5-0 in their Goa Professional League fixture striking early and tightening their grip with a dominant second-half surge.
Shawn Fernandes opened the scoring in the 13th minute with a composed finish that reflected FC Goa’s early dominance in possession and territory. Guardian Angel struggled to stem the pressure and just before the interval, Sangam Shetye doubled the advantage in the 43rd minute, leaving the visitors chasing the game at halftime.
The contest effectively ended moments after the restart, Malsawmtluanga delivered a precise corner in the 47th minute which Sitroy Carvalho met with a powerful header to make it 3-0. From there, FC Goa dictated the tempo circulating the ball with confidence and pinning Guardian Angel deep in their own half.
Joybud Mesquita then took centre stage, in the 70th minute he finished calmly after being picked out by Jovial Dias and two minutes later, the same combination unlocked the defence again with Mesquita completing his brace to extend the lead to five.
Guardian Angel showed resilience and continued to compete, but FC Goa’s intensity, movement and control proved overwhelming. The latter stages saw a flurry of challenges and bookings though the outcome was long settled. FC Goa saw out the match in complete command, underlining their attacking depth and defensive discipline.
