FC Goa has had a rocky start to the season, relying heavily on their foreign attackers, Armando Sadiku and Borja Herrera. Sadiku has scored 6 goals, while Herrera has added 5 to the tally, keeping the team afloat during a season marked by inconsistency. However, a thrilling 3-2 victory against East Bengal SC seemed to signal a turnaround, showcasing FC Goa’s trademark Tiki-Taka style. Unfortunately, this was followed by a disappointing 3-3 draw against Northeast United FC just before the international break.
After returning from the break, FC Goa faced fierce rivals Mumbai City FC at home, where they lost again, this time 2-1. Their most recent match against Chennaiyin FC saw them play well but still ended in a 2-2 draw, earning them just one point.
Moreover, FC Goa has not seen a single clean sheet so far.
Next up, FC Goa will take on Bengaluru FC on November 2 at Fatorda. Bengaluru FC has started the season strongly, adding extra pressure on the Gaurs to perform.
After the draw against Chennaiyin, coach Manolo Marquez acknowledged the unpredictability of football, saying, "We have had some decisions go against us, but I understand the difficulty of refereeing. We love this sport because of its unpredictability."
As FC Goa looks to turn their season around, fans will be hoping for a more consistent performance and a return to winning ways against Bengaluru FC.
