MARGAO: Host Fr Agnelo YSC Paroda secured a spot in the final by defeating Navelim Villagers Union 7-6 in a dramatic penalty shoot-out in the Fr Agnelo YSC Soccer tournament, on Wednesday.
Both teams played an attacking and fast-paced brand of football, ending the first half in a 1-1 draw. Savio Vales put Fr Agnelo YSC ahead with a goal in the 12th minute, but Navelim Villagers Union responded in the 24th minute with an equaliser from Nash Pereira.
In the penalty shoot-out, Fr Agnelo YSC held their nerve, converting all six of their spot kicks through Omkar Gaonkar, Alister Menezes, Livon Clement, Prinson Costa, Pravesh Borkar, and Dalson Fernandes. Navelim Villagers Union also scored five goals, with Nash Pereira, Noah Luis, Terrance Miranda, Aden Pereira, and Meliston Dias finding the net.
