The Goa Olympic Association in association with the Sports Authority of Goa launched an Olympics Awareness programme at the Aghakhan Garden, Margao Municipal Council on Friday.
Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardessai joined the campaign as the chief guest and extended his greetings to the Indian contingent in Tokyo. Joseph Marquis, president of Goan Hockey Association presented a memento to the chief guest.
Thirty participants from Goan Hockey and basketball players participated in a race. Others present were Lyndon Pereira, chairperson of Margao Municipal Council, Agnelo Fernandes, chief officer of MMC, and Fr Ralino D Souza, president of Goa Basketball Association.
The 2020 Tokyo Olympics got underway on Friday after a delay of a year sans the usual fanfare, excitement and enthusiasm associated with the quadrennial Games.
