Goa Velha SC got the better of Navelim Villagers Union in a thrilling encounter at the 13th Cana Benaulim Panchayat trophy inter-village football tournament. The final score was tied 1-1 after regulation time, forcing the match into a penalty shootout which Goa Velha won 5-4.
Navelim took the lead early on through a stunning volley by midfielder Frenden Pires. Goa Velha fought back persistently and earned a penalty in the second half, converted by Kunal Salgaokar. Despite Navelim's dominance throughout the match, they couldn't capitalise on their chances.
The penalty shootout saw Goa Velha's Sainath Kankonkar, Francis Afonso, Akash Sanadi, Kunal Kundaikar, and Franky Cabral score their attempts. Navelim managed to score four goals through Clinton Niasso, Aden Pereira, Joyson Coutinho, and Venito Costa, but it wasn't enough.
Kunal Kundaikar of Goa Velha was awarded the Man of the Match prize.
