In a proud moment for Goa, its team won 3 gold Kata, 2 silver Kata, 2 silver Kumite and 2 bronze Kumite at 33rd National WFSKO Open Karate Championships held at Mulund, Mumbai recently.
The team comprising of Suhana Chauhan, Avnee Chauhan, Adarsh Yadav and Vivek Yadav won medals in 10-11 years category and 12-13 years category, beside coach Sunil Chauhan winning a gold medal himself.
Speaking to the media, coach Chauhan he represented Goa as a player and chief instructor at the tournament. "A group of four students, two from Our Lady of Candelaria School and two from Anjuman Himayatul Islam High School, had participated and I represented Goa as a group of five in the national championship at Mumbai. In the Kata section which is the demonstration of techniques, we got three gold medals and two silver medals in the age categories of 10-11 and 12-13. I also won a medal in 35 years and above category," Chauhan said.
"In the Kumita which is the sparring round, we won two silver and two bronze medals. Suhana Chauhan won a silver (Kata), Avnee Chauhan won two silver (Kata and Kumite), Adarsh Yadav won one gold (Kata) and bronze (Kumite), Vivek Yadav won one gold (Kata) and bronze (Kumite) and I won one gold (Kata) and silver (Kumite)," said Chauhan.
