Goa clinched a bronze medal of the team championship in the Trampoline and Tumbling Gymnastics National Championship held at Dombivali, Maharashtra, organised by the Gymnastic Federation of India.
In the sub-junior age group of trampoline gymnastics, Pratyush Upadhyay won a bronze medal. In the senior age group of trampoline gymnastics, Abhijit Nimbalkar won a bronze. In the National Games held at Vadodara, Gujarat, Abhijit was a bronze medal winner. He was also part of the India team for the World Championship in Sofia, Bulgaria in November 2022.
In the senior age group of trampoline gymnastics, the Goa team won a bronze medal with a score of 202.40. The Goa team consisted of Abhijit Nimbalkar, Subodeep Nandi, Sudipta Sardar and Mainak Dutta. In the senior age group of tumbling gymnastics, the Goa team won bronze of the team championship with a score of 85.20. The Goa team consisted of Souhit Sinha, Sudip Bhuimali and Anish Gayen.
GFDC to open new centre at Sao Jose de Areal
PANAJI: Goa Football Development Council (GFDC) will inaugurate its new football development centre at Sao Jose de Areal in association with Bethany Convent High School on Friday, February 17, at 10 am at Bethany Convent HS ground.
Sports Minister Govind Gaude will be the chief guest and Velim MLA Cruz Silva will be the guest of honour for the inaugural programme, along with GFDC chairman Brahmanand Shankhwalkar and other dignitaries. The new centre will have 60-plus trainee students enrolled and is expected to boost grassroots football in the village as well as the state. Last year, GFDC celebrated the 10th anniversary of its inception.
Netball selection trials on Feb 18
PANAJI: Netball Goa will conduct senior selection trials for Goa men's and women's teams, participating in the 40th Senior National Netball Championship at Nagpur, Maharashtra from February 28 to March 4. The selection trials will be held on February 18 at GVM's Higher Secondary School netball court, Farmagudi, Ponda at 3 pm. Interested players need to report to Pratish Naik (91583 86802) or Sandeep Shetkar (98221 25734) at the venue with a playing kit.
Goa TT Team set for national challenge
PANAJI: The Goa table tennis team will participate in the 84th Inter-State Cadets and Sub Junior National Table Tennis Championship to be held in Alapuzza, Kerala from February 19 to 26.
Talented young paddler Ruchi Kirtani, a top performer at State level, will lead the girls in the U13 and 15 categories. The rest of the team includes talented players who have been training hard and are eager to compete on the national stage.
