MARGAO: Guardian Angel Sports Club Curchorem edged past Parish Youth Nuvem 2-1 in a well contested match and sailed into the quarterfinals of the 32 Curtorim Panchayat Cup organised by Curtorim Gymkhana.
It was right in the third minute of the match when Nuvem striker Meislein Baretto made no mistake in chipping over Guardian Angel keeper thus giving PY Nuvem a well deserved lead. However, it was Guardian Angel striker Cyril Dias who hit a powerful shot to level the scores. In the second half, Guardian Angel scored their second goal through Godwin Fernandes who ran down the left flank and dribbled a couple of defenders and slotted the match-winner.
Cyril Dias of Guardian Angel Sports Club Curchorem was awarded the man of the match.
