Guardian Angel SC move into quarters

MARGAO

Guardian Angel Sports Club got the better of Curtorim Gymkhana 4-2 in a penalty shootout in a thrilling quarterfinal of the 1st Fernando Abranches Memorial Trophy 2025 at the Verna Panchayat Ground.

The match kicked off with an early breakthrough for Guardian Angel, as Reagan Costa scored in the 10th minute to give his team a valuable lead. However, their advantage was short-lived, as a defensive mistake led to a self-goal, bringing Curtorim Gymkhana level before halftime.

The second half was marked by intense back-and-forth action, with both teams creating chances to take the lead. Despite several close attempts, neither side could convert, and the match ended 1-1, sending the game into a penalty shootout.

In the tie-breaker, Guardian Angel's Fedrich, Glesson, Adriano, and Reagan all converted their penalties with precision, while Curtorim Gymkhana's Fredy and Floyd found the back of the net. With a flawless performance in the shootout, Guardian Angel secured a 4-2 victory and a spot in the semifinals.

Rayan Menezes of Guardian Angel SC was named the Star of the Match and the award was presented by Anthony Rodrigues, a former Verna player and current executive member of UC Verna.
