Organised by the Goa Chess Association in collaboration with the All India Chess Federation (AICF), the prestigious tournament offering a prize pool of ₹53 lakhs, has witnessed intense competition among top rated players from across the globe.
Close on the heels of the leaders are five players with 5 points each: GM S.P. Sethuraman (2560, TN), GM Sayantan Das (2434, WB), FM Nguyen Quoc Hy (2418, VIE), GM Alexei Fedorov (2409, BLR), and IM Sammed Jaykumar Shete (2379, MAH). Another group of 15 players, including the tournament's top rated players GM Diptayan Ghosh (2569, RSPB), IM Aronyak Ghosh (2544, RSPB), GM Mitrabha Guha (2509, WB), GM Deepan Chakkravarthy J. (2413, ICF), and Goa’s IM Ritviz Parab (2371), IM Ameya Audi (2422), and IM Ethan Vaz (2412), are tied at 4.5 points. Meanwhile, 25 players, including Goa’s GM Anurag Mhamal (2499), are in the 4-point bracket.
Among Goa's players in contention, IM Ameya Audi secured a win over IM David Gochelashvili (2257, RUS), while IM Ritviz Parab defeated IM Mohsen Elgabry (2107, EGY). IM Ethan Vaz held Nithin Babu (2169, KER) to a draw, and GM Anurag Mhamal played out a hard-fought draw against GM Karthikeyan P. (2286, TN).
The key top board results of Round 6 saw fierce competition among the players. On Board 1, IM Alexander Slizhevsky (2340, RUS) and IM Semetei Tologon Tegin (2351, KGZ) settled for a draw in a closely fought match. Board 2 witnessed GM Alexei Fedorov (2409, BLR) and GM Sayantan Das (2434, WB) sharing points after a hard-fought game. On Board 3, IM Sanket Chakravarty (2374, WB) and GM Diptayan Ghosh (2569, RSPB) ended their match in a draw. GM S.P. Sethuraman (2560, TN) delivered a decisive victory on Board 4 against GM Nguyen Duc Hoa (2359, VIE). Meanwhile, on Board 5, IM Manish Anto Cristiano F (2329, TN) and IM Aronyak Ghosh (2544, RSPB) played to a balanced draw after an engaging contest.
