Pilar Fathers - Sports for Youth Development, Honda, Sattari will organise their second 'Pioneer Hockey Coaching Camp' at a new location, at Govt High School, Keri, Sattari, from April 4 to 13 (from 7.30 am to 9.30 am).
"The first camp organised at Govt High School, Morlem from October 2-10, 2021 was a huge success. Pilar Fathers followed up the camp in Oct 2021 with regular hockey coaching for the children and even took them on exposure trips to DenGoa Sports Arena, Ribander and Peddem Sports Complex, Mapusa, where they practised and played friendly matches on Astro Turf," the organisers said in a press release.
"The camp in Oct 2021 resulted in producing a junior girls team for the Govt. High School, Morlem which participated in the All-Goa inter school hockey tournament in February 2022. The girls from the school also represented the Stars of Sattari Hockey Club in two private hockey tournaments in February and March 2022.
The Pilar Fathers will be collaborating with the Hockey Heritage Group Goa, Wanderers Qatar Hockey Club, Doha and Stars of Sattari Hockey Club, Valpoi to organise the camp at Keri. The camp will use the services of two Hockey India certified coaches from Mapusa, mentored by retired SAI hockey coach Alexander Remedios. "16-18 children, all girls, studying in the 8th standard of Govt High School, Keri, Sattari will be learning to play hockey for the first time. The camp will be focussing on teaching the fundamentals of the game of hockey and focussing on learning basic hockey skills," the release stated.
