Qatar expatriate Indian football team will participate in the annual Asian Communities Football Tournament (ACFT) organised by Qatar Football Association for the expatriate Asian communities living in that country.
India has been drawn in Group B of the eight-team tournament. Group A features Sri Lanka, Nepal, Jordan and Lebanon, while Group B has Bangladesh, Japan, Palestine and India. Top two teams from each group will qualify for the semifinals.
India open their campaign against Japan on April 3 at Doha Stadium. Semifinals will be held on April 17. Indian Sports Centre (ISC) under the aegis of the Indian Embassy Qatar conducted trials to select the players to represent Team India in the tournament, said John Desa, the team manager. The Indian team consists of players from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Goa.
