Representatives from six I-League 2 clubs”Chanmari FC, Sporting Clube de Goa, Diamond Harbour FC, FC Bengaluru United, United FC, and SAT Kerala”held a meeting in Kolkata to discuss their collective concerns about traveling to Manipur due to security issues.
"We believe the value of life is more important than anything else. We must all stand strong against a one-sided decision," said a Diamond Harbour FC representative. He further remarked, "Even with the highest security, the honorable Prime Minister and Home Minister have not yet had the courage to visit Manipur."
United SC members expressed solidarity with the clubs, suggesting alternative arrangements. "Our Member Association has been very supportive. Last year, all these teams played here in Bengal. They can approach the Bengal FA, and we are willing to pursue organizing the matches here," they stated.
The six clubs have collectively written to the All India Football Federation (AIFF) with a joint grievance letter detailing their concerns. In response, an AIFF official Text to one of the Clubs that , "Teams have the choice not to travel, but this will result in 3 points being awarded to the home team as a walkover. We are providing all necessary security measures and taking precautions. Our delegates and match officials are traveling as per schedule."
The clubs have also decided to escalate the matter by writing to their respective Member Associations, urging them to mediate and find a more effective resolution to the dispute.
