Knockdown Warriors won the four-team knockout boxing tournament organised by the Goa Amateur Boxing Association (GABA) at Peddem. The Warriors edged Goans Waves in the 11-bout event as Jessica (66kg) prevailed over Shreesha (65kg) in the final duel of the Elite Women class to decide the winners at the Peddem Sports Complex.
"Very exciting and close bouts were witnessed by the guests, spectators and boxers who came to witness the finals of the GABA 4 Teams KO Tournament. The boxers of the Goan Waves and the Knockdown Warriors fought tooth and nail in the eleven intense bouts," the GABA said in a press release.
"The l1th Elite Women bout between Shreesha (Goans Waves) and Jessica (Knockdown Warriors) went blow to blow and had the whole stadium rocking till second round. Finally, Jessica won the third round and the bout 5:6 to secure the championship for the Knockdown Warriors," the State boxing association said.
Youth boxer Sahil Vaidande won the coveted 'Most Technical Boxer' trophy, while Shreesha Jampula claimed the 'Best Loser' trophy for the narrowest of the losses (3:2) in the tournament.
The winners: Bout 1 - Manan Tiwari (Goan Waves), Bout 2 - Laxman Toralkar (Knockdown Warriors), Bout 3 - Arjun Lamani, Bout 4 - Jeet Roy (GW), Bout 5 - Nitesh Chawan (KW), Bout 6 - Sahil Vaidande (GW), Bout 7 - Gopal Naik (KW), Bout 8 - Shravani Gaurav(GW), Bout 9 - Chandani Sharma (GW), Bout 10 - Priti Chavan (KW), Bout 11 - Jessica Karra (KW).
