Panaji: Manolo Marquez, the new head coach of the Indian national football team has revealed a list of 26 players selected for the preparatory camp ahead of the Intercontinental Cup. The tournament will take place in Hyderabad from September 3 to September 9, 2024, during the FIFA international window.
The Intercontinental Cup will feature three teams: India, Syria, and Mauritius. Syria is ranked 93rd in the latest FIFA rankings, Mauritius is ranked 179th, and India is currently 124th. The preparatory camp will start in Hyderabad on August 31.
Marquez expressed his enthusiasm about the upcoming camp, stating, “We are very excited about our first preparatory camp, and I know the players are as well. We will be facing two different teams, and their rankings are not very important. What matters is that we work together to find the right group of players. I am confident that the players' commitment will be high. Wearing the national team jersey is a great honour, and we need to demonstrate that to our fans.”
