Margao Cricket Club beat Arlem Sports Club by four wickets to win the 42nd Nanda Lolayekar cricket tournament, organised by Mashem Cricket Club and sponsored by Common Wealth Developers, at Nirakar Maidan, Dapot-Canacona.
Margao Cricket Club won the toss and decided to field. Arlem Sports Club scored 213 for nine wickets in alotted 35 overs.
Rajshekhar Harikant scored 49 runs. He was well supported by Prathamesh Gawas (43). Aditya Dhumal (39) chipped in useful runs for Arlem Sports club while Rohit Naik scored (23).
Aryan Mishra was the wrecker in chief claiming 3 for 35 while Keith Pinto and Amog Dessai sharred, two wickets each.
Margao Cricket Club chased down the target in 33.1 overs. Margao Cricket Club started their innings on a promising note as opener Amog Dessai lost out on eights to record his century, He cracked 92 runs off 85 balls. Aniket Porowal scored 45 runs while Shantanu Nevgi contributed 42 runs. Shubham Dessai was the most successful bowler for Arlem Sports Club with 3-41 figures while Dheeraj Yadav took two wickets for 38 runs and Rajat Shet picked one wicket.
The winners were presented with the rolling trophy along with a cash price of Rs 50,000 while the runners-up received a trophy and cash prize of Rs 30,000.
All prizes were sponsored by Chirag Datta Naik (Director of Commonwealth Developers Pvt. Ltd). Sudesh Prabhudesai, Secretary of Goa Veterans Cricket Association and Sharendra Naik, Secretary of Goa Athletics Association and President of Mashem Cricket Club Dr.Surendra Naik were present for the presentation ceremony.
