MARGAO
Margao SC emerged victorious in the Nerul Panchayat Cup 2024 after defeating PVC Association in a thrilling final held at the Nerul Sports Club ground.
The first half saw an attacking display from both sides with each team finding the net once. Michel Dias opened the scoring for Margao SC in the 13th minute but Shadab Shaikh responded with a long-range equaliser for PVC Association.
Margao SC upped the tempo in the second half, with Ritchi Vaz adding another goal through a well-placed free kick. PVC Association pressed for an equaliser but Margao's defense held firm. In the dying minutes, Michel Dias sealed the win for Margao SC with his second goal of the match.
The prize distribution ceremony saw dignitaries like Kedar Naik (Vice Chairman of GSIDC and MLA of Saligao Constituency), Sandeep Bandodkar (North Goa Zilla Panchayat member), Rajesh Kalangutkar (Sarpanch of VP Nerul), Omkar Vaigankar (GFA Executive Committee member), Sandesh Govekar (Panch member VP Nerul), and others awarding trophies and cash prizes to the winners and runners-up.
Earlier, Nerul Sports Club felicitated outstanding students and athletes from the village.
