Masters TT Champions League to kick off on Aug 18 at Peddem

The fourth edition of the Masters Table Tennis Champions League (MTTCL) will take place on Sunday, August 18 at the Multipurpose Stadium, Peddem.

Organised by the Peddem Sports Club, the exciting league will feature 12 corporate teams and 84 players competing for a total prize purse of Rs 1 lakh. The winning team will take home Rs 50,000, the runners-up will receive Rs 30,000, and both semifinalist teams will be awarded Rs 10,000 each. The tournament promises to be a colourful and competitive event, showcasing Goa’s top Masters players.

Commenting on the event, Mayur Sawkar, President of Peddem Sports Club, said, "We originally planned to host an All India invitational for Juniors on the 17th, followed by the Masters League on 18th. However, with state championships currently in progress in some States, many top national players were unavailable, so we decided to reschedule the Juniors event for a later date.

"The Masters League, now in its fourth edition, has grown tremendously each year, and this time is no exception. We're thrilled to have 12 teams competing in a dynamic league format, featuring Goa’s finest Masters players. It promises to be a vibrant and thrilling spectacle for all involved."

This year's tournament features a stellar lineup of 12 corporate teams, including Burye Enterprises, Vicky 10, Diya Enterprise, Estilo Legends, M&S Titans, Suzuki-BN Thakur, Parrikar Smashers, Tuff Security Services, Royal Ruby, Y S Dempo Mavericks, UK Ultra, and Divine Angels.

In the lead-up to the tournament, a glittering team launch ceremony was held in Candolim, where team jerseys were unveiled, adding a sense of occasion and flair to the proceedings. The championship will be inaugurated at 9 am on August 18 by Sports Minister Govind Gaude, in the presence of Sudin Verenkar, President of the Goa Table Tennis Association, Glen Ticlo, former Aldona MLA, Mayur Sawkar, President of Peddem Sports Club, and other dignitaries.
