MLT PDK Kings beat Estilo Legends by 10 runs in a nail biting finish in Desserts n More Sarsangan Super Series Cricket at Arlem Cricket Ground.
Electing to bat first, MLT PDK Kings were made to rue their decision, as the Estilo Legends pegged them to 26-4, thanks to an electrifying opening spell from Siddesh Prabhu Alvenkar who picked a wicket each in his 1 st three overs. However Ved Mahambrey smashed 51 (28 balls, 8 x 4s, 1 x 6s) and in the company of Pratham Kossambe 34 (31 balls, 3 x 4s), the two left handers put on 78 runs in 43 balls to get the Kings back into the match.
Just when the Kings were gaining momentum, the skipper of the Estilo legends, Dr. Sagar Salgaocar picked 2 wickets in 2 overs to halt the run flow as the Kings slid to 139-7 in the 16 th over. A late flourish by the Kings skipper Gaurav Gaitonde 30 not out (19 balls, 1 x 4s, 2 x 6s) and Mihir Gaitonde 18 not out and their unbeaten 45 run stand for the 8 th wicket helped the Kings to post 184/7 in 20 overs. The successful bowlers for the Legends were Siddesh Prabhu Alvenkar 3-28, Dr. Sagar Salgaocar 2-17 and Kauntey Shenvi 1-27
Needing 185 to win, Estilo Legends had a disastrous start to the run chase, losing both the openers, Sachin Sardesai 7 and Siddhesh Bodke 5 as the score read 20-2 in the 3 rd over. A comforting 77 run partnership between Raunak Nargundker 40 (6 x 4s) and Dr. Sagar Salgaocar 44 (5 x 4s) kept the Legends in the hunt as they reached 97-3 in the 13 th over.
Surviving a close run out, courtesy the 3 rd Umpire DRS call, Siddesh Prabhu Alvenkar blasted 42 (21 balls, 4 x 4s, 2 x 6s), giving the MLT PDK Kings think tank some anxious moments, bringing the target down to just 15 runs.
However the rest of the batters catapulted under the ever increasing run rate, as Mihir Gaitonde rose to the occasion picking 2 wickets in the final over to finish with dream figures of 3-0-15-3.
Estilo Legends finished at 174/8 in 20 overs, giving a nail biting 10 run win to the MLT PDK Kings. Animesh Prabhugaonkar, Viraj Puranik, Ved Mahambrey and Mehank Dharwadkar picked a wicket each Ved Mahambrey was awarded the Desserts n More Man of the Match medal and the Estilo Moderno Realty Man of the Match trophy along with a cash prize of Rs.2000 for his brilliant all round display for the MLT PDK Kings. The presentation was done by CEO of Geno Pharmaceuticals Dr. Sagar Salgaocar, owner of MLT PDK Kings Rahul Dhond, Cricket coach Paresh Padiyar and owner of Redondo restaurant Parai Dubashi in the presence of Gomakant Mahambrey.
