MARGAO: Navelim Sporting Club edged past Benfica Youth Club with a score of 2-1, securing a spot in the semifinals of the Marcous Mascarenhas (Mark) Memorial Trophy tournament, organised by Sarzora Sports Club at the Chinchinim Church ground.
Ronaldo Pereira opened the scoring for Navelim in the fifth minute, giving them a 1-0 lead at halftime. In the second half, Benfica Youth Club rallied back, equalising with a goal from Royan Gama in the 37th minute. However, Navelim regained the lead when Vinito Costa scored the winning goal in the 49th minute.
Vinito Costa was awarded the Man of the Match honor by Rhea Oliveira, the Deputy Sarpanch of Sarzora.
