Navelim Sporting moved into the quarterfinals of the Curtorim Villagers Cup after defeating Fr Agnelo YSC Paroda 6-4 via a tiebreaker at Curtorim ground on Thursday.
Fr Agnelo Paroda scored the first goal through Sezwin Fernandes in the 17th minute after receiving a fine cross from Joel Furtado, 1-0. Navelim missed an easy chance to equalise through Clinton Niasso in the 20th minute. In the second half, Navelim's Presley Gomes hit the Paroda upright and the ball went out of play.
Paroda scored their second goal through Shrine Clemente in the 50th minute. Navelim scored through Clinton Niasso from a penalty kick in the 54th minute to make 1-2. Navelim equalised through Presley Gomes in the 65th minute, 2-2. The match ended 2-2. In the tiebreaker, Navelim Sporting Club scored through Clinton Niasso, Ronaldo Pereira, Darren Peixoto and Velington Almeida. For Fr Agnel YSC Paroda, Ivon Costa and Velroy Carvalho scored. Navelim's Presley Gomes was named the Man of the Match and received the prize from Vallen Albuquerque.
MCA cricket coaching camp inaugurated
PANAJI: Margao Cricket Academy's 31st Summer Cricket Coaching Camp was inaugurated on Thursday at the Konkan Railway Colony ground, Margao. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Shashidhar G, Senior Engineer (Works), Konkan Railway, Hemant Angle, senior cricket coach, and Adv Nikhil Katkar. The camp will be held for a period of 21 days from April 13 to May 6. Students will undergo scientific training in cricket, which will include theory as well as practical classes. The camp is for boys and girls above the age of 9.
Vasco United ease past Patrong SC 3-0
Vasco United SC beat Patrong SC 3-0 in a GFA III Division League 2022-23 Mormugao Zone match at Chicalim Panchayat ground on Thursday. Vasco United dominated the match from the beginning, displaying a solid performance in both attack and defence. In the 37th minute, Venzilo Soares opened the scoring for Vasco United with a well-placed shot, followed by Shivam Baraik's goal just before half-time. In the second half, Vasco United continued to dictate terms and Venzilo scored his second goal in the 77th minute, securing a well-deserved victory for his team.
