The Goan Football Cup 2024, held at Wasps FC in Acton, London, concluded with a thrilling finale, crowning New Vasco as the champions while Daily GrinderX claimed the runner-up spot.

The tournament, which featured 32 teams competing across 40 intense matches, has set a new standard as the biggest and best football event organised by Goans in the UK. This year’s tournament wasn’t just for the Goan community but embraced participants from all communities across the UK, truly celebrating unity through sport.

Izzy, a standout player from New Vasco, was named Best Player of the tournament. Izzy’s exceptional performance, having already represented England in 6 A Side internationals, was a key factor in his team’s victory. Aldona MLA, Adv Carlos Alvares Ferreira, made a special appearance to meet the Goan community at the event. Cultural elements were a significant part of the tournament, with Pratos de Goa serving authentic Goan cuisine that brought a taste of home to the attendees. Additionally, Born in Goa, a t-shirt company, offered stylish merchandise, while Windsor & Eton Brewery, one of the UK’s top craft breweries, kept the crowd refreshed throughout the day.

The tournament was organised by Anline Fernandes, who represented India at the sub-junior level and now plays for Windsor & Eton FC. The event also featured the participation of Indian football legend Jules Alberto, adding prestige and excitement to the occasion.
