Perpetual Succour Convent High School, Navelim, clinched the title of the U-15 Women's Football Tournament, defeating St Anne’s Institute, Agonda, 3-0 in the final held at the Rosary Church Ground in Navelim on Sunday.
The final of the tournament organised by Navelim Sporting Club saw Perpetual Convent dominate throughout, keeping their opponents on the defensive in both halves. The champions scored through Venicia Carvalho, who netted a brace, and Clea Colaco, who added another goal. Perpetual Succour Convent’s solid performance sealed a convincing victory.
Rev Fr Clive Dias, Assistant Parish Priest of Our Lady of Rosary Church, Navelim, was the chief guest and handed out the prizes. The ceremony was attended by Sr Sandia Azavedo (MSP-Pillar Sister), Avertano Furtado (Ex-MLA & Minister, Navelim Constituency), Miguel Cardozo (Sarpanch, VP Navelim), Rita Pires (Ex-Deputy Sarpanch, VP Telaulim), Climax Lawrence (Assistant Coach, Sporting Clube de Goa), and social worker George Barretto.
Individual awards were presented as follows: Best Goalkeeper: Janalie Colaco (Perpetual Convent), Best Defender: Ayushi Naik (St Anne’s Agonda), Best Half: Gwyneth Fernandes (Perpetual Convent), Best Striker & First Scorer: Venicia Carvalho (Perpetual Convent), Player of the Final: Clea Colaco (Perpetual Convent), Last Touch of the Final: Kavya (St Anne’s Agonda).
