Rossman Cruz Nagoa, Verna scored a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Nerul Sports Club to win their opening match of FC Tuem Champions Trophy organised in association with CAM Group of Companies.
Both teams dished out fast-paced football but the scores were 0-0 at the half time. Post resumption, in the 54th minute, Roydon Rego’s brilliant cross saw an unmarked Andrew John tapping the ball into the Nerul net. In the last 10 minutes, Nerul went all out to equalise but Rossman's backline proved hard to break down.
Noel D’Souza of Rossman Cruz and Jose Fernandes of Nerul SC were cautioned for unsporting behaviour while Sanket Naik was shown a yellow card for a reckless challenge.
St Joseph Vaz Cup from Oct 23
The John Paul II Foundation for Sports Goa, part of the Archdiocese of Goa, will organise 6th edition of the annual St Joseph Vaz Cup football tournament for Priests and Seminarians on October 23 at Rosary ground, Navelim from 2 pm onwards.
The event will be held in two categories with one only for Priests of the Diocese and different Religious Orders and the second category for Seminarians (both will be in seven-a-side format for the first time). Due to the pandemic, the tournament was not held for two years and is being resumed on the request of several priests playing in different tournaments to encourage the youth to be involved in sports.

Fr Basilio Andrade Memorial football from Oct 16
Associacao Academica de Majorda-Utorda-Calata will organise their annual All Goa inter-village 21st Fr Basilio Andrade Memorial football tournament from October 16. The finals will be played on November 6. Prizes: Winners - trophy and cash prize of Rs 40,000, runners-up - trophy and cash prize of Rs 30,000.
