United SC Seraulim emerged victorious against St Sebastian UC Benaulim with an impressive 4-2 scoreline in the inter-village football tournament organized by St Sabastian UC Benaulim at the Dando ground Benaulim on Monday.
The star of the game was Mohsin Sayyed of Seraulim who showcased his exceptional skills with a brilliant first-half performance, scoring two goals in the 8th and 14th minutes. Although Benaulim tried to make a comeback with Keegan's goal in the 39th minute, Sayyed of Seraulim dashed their hopes with his hat-trick goal in the 47th minute. Later, Ashley Fernandes of Seraulim secured their quarter-final spot with his goal in the 59th minute.
Paldem advance with win over Novovaddo
Paldem have advanced to the next round of the 1st Vicente memorial inter-ward football tournament after securing a 3-1 victory over Novovaddo. The match was held at St Alex Church ground, Curtorim on Monday.
Although Novovaddo scored the first goal through Myson Fernandes in the 20th minute, Paldem managed to equalize in the second half thanks to Godwin Mascarenhas' goal in the 35th minute. Soon after, Paldem scored two more goals through Kevin Karlos and Showin Carvalho in the 49th and 46th minute respectively, securing their spot in the next round.
Namrat 7 win Nachinola Cup
PANAJI: Namrat 7 emerged victorious in the Nachinola Cup 7-a-side football tournament by defeating Veigas Nachinola 1-0 in an intense finale. The tournament, which featured six teams and lasted a day, was inaugurated by William Fernandes, the chief organizer.
Carlos Alvares Ferreira, the Aldona MLA, was the distinguished guest and pledged his support for sports among the youth in Aldona. Fernandes expressed gratitude in his vote of thanks. The main sponsor for the tournament was Melwyn Barretto.
GTBCA announces team for Inter-Zonals
The Goa Tennis Ball Cricket Association (GTBCA) has announced the men's team players who will represent Goa in the upcoming All India Inter-Zonal Tennis Ball Cricket Championship in Sundernagar, Himachal Pradesh from August 5 to 7.
The selected players are as follows: Abhishek Gaonkar, Deep Palni, Harsh Gala, Sarvesh Gawas, Smitesh Sawant, Kaushal Churi, Akshay Satarkar, Samarth Naik, Maruti Patil, Shoaib Ansari, Punit Khandeparkar, Mahadev Malik, Saheel Gawde, and Akash Lamani. The team was selected based on their performance in the pre-coaching camp held at Marcel.
