The Goa Football Association (GFA) has announced the start of the much-awaited 2023-24 season. The season will begin with the Charity Cup match on August 20, followed by the 13-team Goa Pro League on August 27.
The GFA president, Dr Caitano Fernandes, shared the details during the association's executive committee meeting held on Monday.
"I am delighted to announce that the 2023-24 season will commence with the thrilling Charity Cup match on August 20, 2023. The match will be played between Dempo Sports Club and Sporting Clube de Goa. We eagerly anticipate an enthralling start to the football season. And the much-awaited 13-team Goa Pro League will begin from August 27," stated Dr Fernandes.
The GFA executive committee meeting witnessed a series of significant decisions. One of the key decisions involved co-opting Sporting Clube de Goa director Diogo Nathan Vaz, who will replace outgoing member Adlear D'Cruz.
"We are immensely grateful to Adlear for his invaluable contribution to Goan football. Now, we extend a warm welcome to the young and dynamic Diogo Nathan Vaz as a member of the GFA Executive Committee, representing the professional league clubs. We have great faith in Diogo's capabilities and commitment to the sport, and we wish him the very best for his association with GFA," added the GFA president.
