Bhatti secured a spot in the semifinals of the 1st Vicente Memorial Inter-ward Football Tournament after defeating Agxem 4-1 at St Alex Church Ground in Curtorim.
Shelton Peixoto scored the first goal for Bhatti in the 15th minute, before scoring another goal in the first half. In the second half, Franky Dias scored the third goal for Bhatti, and Shelton Peixoto completed his hat-trick by scoring the fourth goal. Agxem were able to score one goal through Alroy Gomes in the final minutes of the match.
Trials for sub-jr girls' football nationals
The Sub Junior Girls National Football Championship 2023-24 will be held at Amritsar, Punjab from September 3 to 13.
The tournament is for players (girls) born on or after January 1, 2010, and not later than December 31, 2011. Interested players must report to the coaches for the trials with their complete playing kit and Birth Certificate/Identity Document for eligibility on August 5 and 7 at Duler Stadium at 3.30 pm.
Guardian Angel HS U-17 boys win Quepem tennikoit tourney
PANAJI: The U-17 boys from Guardian Angel High School, Curchorem emerged victorious in the tennikoit tournament at the Quepem Taluka level, which was organized by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs.
The team defeated Government High School Fatorpa 2-0 in the quarterfinals, Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Convent School 2-0 in the semifinals, and Holy Cross Institute School Quepem 2-0 in the finals. The team consisted of Naik Akshay Sudhir, Arya Anish Anil, Martin's Levi, Sahil Waghmare, and Flynn J Fernandes. The team poses with Fr Jerry Vaz, senior teacher Digna Dias, and PE teachers Astrid Colaco and Arvind Chavan.
YBT Pro League final round of selection trials
Newly promoted Goa Professional League side Young Boys of Tonca (YBT) will conduct their final round of selection trials for the upcoming season on Sunday, August 6 at Santa Cruz ground, Santa Cruz, from 10 am to 12 pm.
Players who are interested in trying out should arrive at the ground by 9.30 am. YBT had a successful season in the previous edition of the GFA First Division and is now looking to build a stronger team in the Pro League. Their goal is to provide a platform for young players while also establishing themselves as a top team in Goa's top-flight league. Goa teams selected for powerlifting nationals
The Goa Powerlifting and Sports Association has selected the Goa teams in sub-junior, junior, and senior categories for the National Powerlifting Bench Press/Deadlift Championship 2023.
The sub-junior athletes selected are Lakshada Shirodkar, Maven Rebello, and Kenrich Fernandes. Junior athletes selected are Agnes Fernandes, Jovitte Moniz, Magnard Furtado, Alton Almeida, Aryan Satardekar, and Shryesh Sirsat. Senior athletes selected are Toushif Kalatgee, Shailesh Baglee, Bhavesh Naik, and Suyog Hadlakar. A training camp for the athletes will be held from August 14 to 21 at the DSYA gym at Nuvem Village Panchayat.
