Spring Boys Mandopa Navelim defeated Young Boys of Gantamorod 3-2 to win the Navelim Sporting Club Open Inter-ward Football Trophy organised by Navelim Sporting Club at Rosary Ground.
Moving Gomes struck two goals, scoring in the 6th and 10th minutes, for Spring Boys Mandopa. The second half turned livelier as Young Boys of Gantamorod were in their elements as Presley Gomes and Dylan netted a goal each, scoring in the 34th and 37th minutes, respectively, to level the terms. Fredlon Fernandes scored the match winner for Spring Boys in the 48th minute.
Individual prizes: Best defender of final - Darren Piexuto, Young Boys of Gantamorod, Best disciplined team - Jolly Boys of Sirvodem.
Fr Gabriel Coutinho, parish priest of Our Lady of Rosary Church, Navelim, was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of Ulhas Tuenkar, MLA of Navelim constituency, Edwin Cardozo, ZP Navelim, and Police inspector Tukaram Chavan.
