MARGAO: In a thrilling six-goal encounter at the Government Primary School ground, Telaulim, St. Sebastian Youth Club (SSYC) Murida Fatorda came from behind to secure a 4-2 victory over Guardian Angel SC Curchorem on Saturday in the UCT Trophy.
Guardian Angel drew first blood in the opening minute when Vitorinho Fernandes capitalized on a defensive lapse to give his team the lead. Murida responded quickly, with Subert Colaco equalizing in the 9th minute, bringing the score to 1-1 at halftime.
The second half saw Murida take control. Cliff Barreto delivered a precise through ball to Alfred Noronha, who executed a spectacular bicycle kick in the 38th minute to put Murida ahead. Noronha struck again in the 47th minute, finishing a deft pass from Colaco to extend the lead to 3-1. Guardian Angel fought back, with Vitorinho Fernandes scoring his second in the 50th minute. However, Subert Colaco sealed the win for Murida with a goal in the 70th minute, completing his brace and making it 4-2.
Alfred Noronha was named Man of the Match by Lorry Dias for his stellar performance.
