St Anthony Assolda marched into the quarterfinals in the Areal Panchayat Cup with a convincing 3-0 victory over St Anthony Colva organised by Sao Jose de Areal at Padribhat Sao Jose de Areal on Saturday.
Assolda took the lead in the first half when Alton Vaz rose high to head in a corner at the 30th minute. Just before the break, Adrian Gomes doubled the lead with a thunderous strike in the 40th minute. The third goal came through an unfortunate own goal by a Colva defender, sealing the contest.
Though Assolda dominated proceedings throughout, Colva goalkeeper Terence Noronha stood out with some brilliant saves in the first half that kept the margin from widening earlier.
