St Savio Sports Club Calangute defeated Pilerne Sports Club 3-0 to move into the next round of the 23rd Vagator Soccer 2023 tournament organised by Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club, at Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club Ground, on Tuesday. In the 5th minute, St Savio SC's Pedro Gonsalves converted a penalty to make it 1-0. Within two minutes Calangute doubled their lead when a 25-yard shot from Jovito Fernandes was saved but the rebound fell to Fasell D'souza who netted it in. At crossing ends, Pilerne dominating the attack from the very start failed to capitalise on their opportunities in the 39th and 41st minutes respectively when Aniket Naik's freekick as well as a shot from Aman Govekar was saved by the Calangute goalkeeper Cydon D'Souza. Jovito Fernandes of St Savio SC with a neat placement shot put the game to bed extending the scoreline to 3-0. The man of the match was awarded to Jovito Fernandes of St Savio SC.
Saviour Of World, Regina Martyrum into quarters
MARGAO: Saviour Of The World HS Loutolim and Regina Martyrum HS Assolna made it to the quarterfinals of the U-14 Salcete Taluka Subroto Mukherjee football tournament played at DSYA ground “ Dramapur on Tuesday. In the first match “ Saviour Of The World HS defeated St Jude’s HS of Betalbatim 3-1. Jaden Dias scored a brace and Sidroy Mascarenhas netted one goal. Kuldeep Kullu reduced the margin for St Jude’s HS. In the second match “ Regina Martyrum HS of Assolna scored an identical goal win over OL of Succour HS of Verna. Zishaan Shaikh netted two goals while Neil Fernandes scored one for Assolna School. The only goal for OL of Succour HS was scored by Joseph D’Sa.
Sinquerim SC beat Ponda Footballers 2-1
MARGAO: Sinquerim Sports Club entered the semifinals of 33rd All Goa St Anne's Inter-Village Soccer 2023 in memory of Late Maria Anatansia Fernandes organised by Ponda Footballers held at Animal Husbandry Ground, Curti-Ponda on Tuesday. Rain saved the day for the winner as Sinquerim SC managed to beat host Ponda Footballers 2-1. At half time Sinquerim was leading by a solitary goal scored by Krish Naroji. In the second half, they increased the lead through Mandar Narvekar, while Ponda reduced the margin through Manjunath Kambli. Sinquerim will take on Navelim Sporting in the semis on July 20. Sandeep Opkar was the chief guest and gave away the prize to Bhaskar Jalmi.
