St Xavier’s College, Mapusa won both the men's and women's Basketball Championship 2022-23, organised by Goa University at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium, Goa University Campus, Taleigao.
In the men’s championship finals, St Xavier’s defeated Goa Medical College, Bambolim 47-34. In a well-contested women’s championship finals, St Xavier’s pipped SS Dempo College, Cujira with a narrow margin of 26-25.
Earlier in the semifinals of the women’s section, SS Dempo College of Commerce and Economics, Cujira defeated VM Salgaocar College of Law, Miramar 26-6 and St Xavier’s College defeated Don Bosco College, Panaji 37-18.
In the men’s semifinals, Goa Medical College defeated Goa College of Engineering, Farmagudi 37-19 and St Xavier’s College defeated Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda 66-45. In total, 16 men’s and 9 women’s teams participated in the three-day Inter College Basketball Championship.
