Third Division: UC Benaulim, St Anthony's draw

United Club of Benaulim rallied from behind to hold St Anthony's Sports Club, Colva to a 2-2 draw in the GFA Salcete Zone Third Division League match at St John the Baptist Ground, Dando, Benaulim on Monday.

In a thrilling encounter, St Anthony's took an early lead through Malik Torgal in the 7th minute before Sahil Pille made it 2-0 in the next minute. Down 0-2, United Club of Benaulim went into attacking mode and in the 20th minute, Alejo Fernandes scored the first goal for them.

Crossing over, St Anthony's Colva slackened their pace and their opponents made forays upfront and their efforts were rewarded in the 56th minute. Cedron Fernandes found the equaliser to restore parity. Both teams pushed hard for a winner but neither was able to find it and had to settle for a point each.

AIFF withdraws bid for AFC Asian Cup 2027
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has been officially notified by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) of their decision to withdraw the bid from the AFC Asian Cup 2027 host selection process. The AFC Executive Committee had shortlisted the AIFF and Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) bids to host the tournament during its meeting on October 17. The AFC Congress is to decide the final host in Manama, Bahrain, in February 2023. Following the withdrawal of the AIFF bid, SAFF’s bid to host the 19th edition of the AFC Asian Cup in 2027 will now be the only one presented to the 33rd AFC Congress for consideration.

Raia Sporting down DBO 5-2
Raia Sporting Club defeated Don Bosco Oratory of Fatorda 5-2 to enter the finals of the Bro Eulalio Vas inter-village football tournament played at DBO ground, Fatorda. Raia Sporting led 3-1 at the breather. Eldon Colaco and Garrison Fernandes scored a brace each while Swedon Barbosa netted one goal for Raia Sporting Club. Charles Miranda and Sweton Rebello scored a goal each for Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda.
