St Joseph Vaz College, Cortalim, witnessed a thrilling conclusion to its Intramural Futsal Tournament recently. The final saw TY BSc dominate SY BSc with a decisive 5-1 victory.
TY BSc came out strong from the start, with Vignesh Haldankar leading the charge. Haldankar showcased his exceptional form by scoring a hat-trick, while Dishant Kankonkar added two more goals. SY BSc's Vignesh Naik managed a consolation goal, but it wasn’t enough to halt TY BSc’s relentless attack.
The event kicked off with a dominant 3-0 win by TY BSc over FY BSc. Vignesh Haldankar netted two goals, while Dishant Kankonkar contributed one.
In the second match, SY BSc thrashed FY BSc 5-1. Melfran Dias gave the lead to SY BSc just before halftime. Post-break, Anish Maurya managed to score for FY BSc, but SY BSc surged ahead with captain Veron Rocha scoring an impressive four goals.
The third match, a mere formality as both SY BSc and TY BSc had already qualified for the finals, saw TY BSc asserting their superiority once again. TY BSc triumphed with a 4-1 win, thanks to goals from Ashish Gupta (2), Dishant Kankonkar, and Shreya Mulik. SY BSc's sole goal came from Shreyas Morudkar.
The tournament concluded with Sharif Ansari, a distinguished alumnus of the college, gracing the final with his presence.
