The United Club of Verna triumphed 4-1 over Maina SC on Sunday, advancing to the quarterfinals of the 1st Vauradencho Ixtt Trophy. The match was held at the DSYA Ground in Curtorim, organised by Batora United Club in association with Margao Sports Club.
Maina SC's Nickson Castanaha missed a golden opportunity to score in the 4th minute, which proved to be costly. United Club of Verna took the lead just a minute later, with Beniston Barretto scoring in the 5th minute. Barretto doubled the lead for Verna in the 15th minute, continuing his impressive performance.
In the second half, United Club extended their advantage further. Barretto added another goal in the 44th minute, followed by Josly Moniz who scored in the 50th minute. Maina SC pulled one back in the 52nd minute, with Joywin Carneiro finding the net, but it was not enough to mount a comeback.
The match’s guests, Jose Pais, Carlos Paes, Conceicao Fernandes, and Caetano Mascarenhas, presented the Man of the Match award to Beniston Barretto for his outstanding performance.
