The Goa Table Tennis Association (GTTA) and TTFI announced the UTT National Ranking Table Tennis Championships 2024, scheduled for October 18 to 25 at the Manohar Parrikar Indoor Stadium, Navelim, Goa. The tournament will feature 12 categories, including Youth Boys & Girls Singles from U11 to U19, as well as Men’s and Women’s Singles.
In a press conference at Clube Tennis De Gaspar Dias, Miramar, N. Ganeshan, Technical Committee Chairman of TTFI, highlighted the event's significance as the second of five annual national ranking tournaments. He noted a 15% increase in prize money, now totaling ₹10 lakhs, aimed at enhancing competitiveness. The championship will attract top players, including those ranked in the world's top 100, with over 60 officials ensuring high-quality officiating across multiple tables.
Sudin Verenkar, GTTA President, emphasized the event’s role in promoting local sports and providing Goan players with a national platform. He believes this championship will inspire youth and support grassroots activities through generated funds.
Shrinivas Dempo, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, expressed his passion for table tennis and the importance of developing local talent. He dreams of seeing Goan players in the UTT League and underscored the need for community support to nurture potential athletes, especially from rural areas.
The organizing committee includes notable figures such as Chief Patron Dr. Pramod Sawant and other key members managing various aspects of the event. The tournament will be inaugurated on October 18 by Dr. Sawant and senior TTFI officials.
Christopher Menezes, GTTA Secretary, concluded the conference, inviting players and spectators to witness top-tier table tennis action.
