Vishal and Aleen D’Souza emerged Champion in the Junior Boys and Girls section of the Youth of Mungul Interward Open Badminton tournament at Our Lady of Carmel Chapel badminton court, Mungul.
In the Junior Girls category finals - Aleen D’Souza defeated Gia Pinto 15-12, 13-15,15-10; Junior Boys - Vishal defeated Ankit 16-15, 15-12. In the Women’s Singles - Innocencia Miranda (Madel) made short work of Swati Chauhan (Mungul) 21-18, 21-15 to win the women’s title. In men’s doubles - Kartik Lokapure and Sapresh Raikar (Mungul) defeated Sanfer Fernandes and Dickens Fernandes (Madel) 21-18, 21-16 for the doubles title.
The Fatorda MLA was the Chief Guest and gave away the trophies, medals and cash prizes to the respective winners. Mungul Chaplain Fr Livio, ward councillor Francis Joanes and other councillors and social worker Anthony Fernandes were amongst those present. In all, 42 sportsperson participated in the week-long tournament. The finals was compared by Lazar Fernandes.
