Voilem Bhat beat Gaunchem Bhat 2-0 to clinch the Pogo Boys Cup football tournament organised by Pogo Boys Merces at Our Lady of Merces Church ground.
Voilem Bhat dominated the game in both the halves and broke the deadlock in the 10th minute when Gauresh Faterpenkar found the net. Gauresh was in the thick of action and struck a second time when his shot deflected off a player and caught the rival goalkeeper on the wrong foot.
The second half continued in same vein with Voilem Bhat enjoying the lion's share of exchanges but could not score due to inept shooting by their forwards. At the other end, Gaunchem Bhat tried their best but could not score due to the rivals' stout defence.
The tournament was dedicated to the memory of late Kesh Maidaikar, an active member of Pogo Boys. Assis Fernandes, Sarpanch of VP Merces, was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of Girish Usskaikar, Celia Sequeira, Shuchita Amonkar, Mhukesh Shirgoakar, Yateen Palekar, Amrstrong Braganza, Venancio Gonsalves, other dignitaries and club officials.
