Jamshedpur FC's head coach, Khalid Jamil, spoke on the importance of the match against FC Goa. Jamil acknowledged the challenge of facing a strong team away from home. FC Goa boasts a mix of experienced Indian and foreign players, and their coach is well-regarded in the league, “It’s a crucial game for us,” Jamil said. “We need a positive start, especially since we’re playing away in Goa. FC Goa has a talented squad, so we must give our best effort.”
Jamil highlighted the need for his team to stay focused throughout the match. “We must avoid panicking and stay alert from start to finish. Our performance needs to be sharp, and we have to handle the game well,” he added.
Regarding team preparations, Jamil noted that the squad had ample time to prepare, including participating in the Durand Cup and several practice matches. However, he confirmed that Pranoy Halder would miss the game due to injury, though he may return for the next match.
Jamil also addressed concerns about the team's recent additions. He mentioned that while some foreign players joined later than others, everyone had time to adjust and integrate into the squad.
Reflecting on his own role, Jamil acknowledged the pressure of coaching multiple ISL teams but remained focused on the task at hand. “The competition is fierce with many good teams and coaches,” he said. “I’m just concentrating on preparing for tomorrow’s game.”
Jamil also spoke about Ashutosh Mehta, who is returning to Indian football and the ISL after a ban. Jamil praised Mehta’s determination and resilience, noting that despite an injury setback, Mehta has shown strong mental and physical recovery. “He’s highly confident and eager to prove himself again,” Jamil said. “His experience and hard work are valuable for our team.”
