In an electrifying display of skill and agility, young fencers from across the State competed in the Fencing State Championship 2024 which concluded on Sunday.
In the Senior Men’s Foil category, Kushal J Das emerged as the gold medallist, with Sohan Bhandari securing the silver medal. The bronze medals were awarded to Hitarth Mulewa and Suraj Sonar. The Senior Men’s Sabre category was dominated by Dinesh Kamee, who clinched the gold medal. Niraj Godkar won the silver medal, while Shawn Mendonca and Sohail Farooqui bagged the bronze medals. In the Senior Men’s Epee category, Birpratap Sharma won the gold medal, with Vedant Tari securing the silver medal. The bronze medals were awarded to Somnath and Rohan Kamble.
The Senior Women’s Sabre category saw Aditi Nirmale winning the gold medal. In the Senior Women’s Foil category, Sayee Shirodkar secured the gold medal, while Anisa Pavaskar and Tamanna Warlikar won the silver and bronze medals respectively.
In the U-14 Girls Foil category, Nitya Khanna clinched the gold medal, while Advika Pavlekar secured the silver medal. The U-14 Sabre Boys category was dominated by Ninad Kotnis, who won the gold medal. Parth Mandrekar and Blazio Furtado bagged the silver and bronze medals respectively, with Krish Gaonkar also winning a bronze medal.
The U-14 Epee Boys category saw Vihaan Korgaonkar winning the gold medal, followed by Samarth Volvoikar who won the silver medal. Varad Verlekar and Shreerang Dalvi both won bronze medals in the category.
In the U-14 Foil Boys category, Varad Chari emerged victorious with a gold medal, while Lalaksh Shirodkar won the silver medal. The bronze medals were awarded to Mayank Shirodkar and Gatikkgyan Shelar. The U-17 Foil Girls category saw Sayee Shirodkar winning the gold medal, Nitya Khanna securing the silver medal, and Advika Pavlekar winning the bronze medal.
