Indonesia for better trade ties with India

Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia, Saut Siringoringo, met with World Trade Goa (WTC) officials, including Manguirish Pai Raiker, advisor to WTC Goa and Ambika Dhakhenkar, assistant manager, WTC Goa.

Siringoringo addressed the meeting and highlighted that both Indonesia and Goa should partner in promoting tourism because there is potential for growth there. Besides, there is huge scope for growth of bilateral trade between India and Indonesia.

The imports from India to Indonesia stand at a paultry figure of USD 2.74 billion, which is 23 per cent of exports from Indonesia to India, which stand at USD 11.71 billion. Siringoringo said, “Indonesia imports coal, palm-oil, cashew, which could be sourced from Goan manufacturers and exporters.”

Pai Raiker recommended to strengthen trade ties further between the two countries, to accentuate 'Act East Policy' accorded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Hariyanta Soetarto, Consul (economics) and Walfred Tagor Manihuruk, Director, Indonesian Trade Promotion Center were also present at the meeting.
