Persistent Systems, a global leader in software product and technology development, donated a sum of Rs 4,50,000 to two NGOs in Goa Wednesday, Matruchhaya and Mahila Ashram, as a part of the ceremony recognizing the winners of Semicolons 2016 at Persistent Systems Goa campus. Semicolons is Persistent Systems’ 24 hour annual team programming contest where programmers code to solve real world problems. One winning team designed and built a citizen engagement platform for climate change. The other winning team “ comprised entirely of women “ built a one-stop auctioning platform for Indian farmers to help them fetch better prices by selling directly to customers instead of going through middlemen.
Matruchhaya is an orphanage for new born children of unwed mothers and destitute children, and Mahila Ashram, which is a part of Gomantak Lokseva Trust, works for destitute women and other women facing various problems in life by providing them with shelter and rehabilitating them.
