When you are part of the ruling political dispensation you can do anything and also get away with it. On Monday, a councilor of the Mapusa Municipal Council, Swapnil Shirodkar walked in one hour late during a council meeting which was in the midst of a serious discussion over raising tax and fees on civic services.
He entered the hall, briefly attended the meeting and quietly slipped out, all in five minutes. The councillor’s antics did not go unnoticed though. The opposition councillors pounced on the gross indiscipline and questioned the chair what action will be taken against the councilor who appeared to have come only to sign the roster.
The opposition group demanded action against the errant councilor and asked the chief officer to submit a report against him to the Director of Municipal Administration.
