The Mapusa Municipal Council under the present lot of city-fathers never fails to intrigue and surprise you.
Just when things were getting a little drab, news began floating around that at least three councilors had decided to attend some IPL matches outside the State. Nothing wrong with that but what sparked interest in the councilors itinerary, however, was the reported presence of a senior officer of the municipality in the group to watch the matches. The chief officer of Mapusa, meanwhile, went on leave at the same time that the councilors decided to watch the IPL matches.
Well, we do not want to draw conclusions. It might just be a coincidence!!
But we can’t help but recall another coincidence: The fact that the CO had accompanied the same group of councilors on a pilgrimage trip to Shirdi, not very long ago. And just when the gossip of the IPL fiasco died down, the Mapusa civic body was struck by hot gossip of yet another controversy.
Sleaze and sex is the spice of life and politics, they say. We are yet to get hold of clinching evidence but we are almost there. Watch this space for more details next time!
